1. Chicken and Waffle Wings
“Chicken and Waffles” has become an increasingly popular soul food, as many enjoy the pairing of crispy fried chicken and breakfast waffles. These funky wings put a different spin on the dish. These chicken wings are seasoned and fried, dipped in waffle batter, and sizzled against a waffle iron. Apparently, a nice maple sauce on the side proves to be a delightful touch.
2. Dr. Pepper Wings
Now, you may be initially skeptical of this soda-infused recipe, but there’s definitely some merit to it. A delicious BBQ sauce is created through sautéing a mixture of garlic, ketchup, tomato paste, yellow onion, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chilli powder, and a can of Dr. Pepper (click for full ingredients).
The fried wings are then tossed in the BBQ sauce, and finally sprinkled with chives. The resulting sauce is smoky, rich, and smooth - a taste behind your wildest dreams!
3. Bacon-wrapped Wings
The one thing people love more than chicken wings, is bacon. So who says you can’t have both? This recipe calls for the wings to be tossed with a paprika and chilli powder-based dry rub, and tightly wrapped with bacon strips. They are then baked to a crispy, sizzling perfection.
4. Chipotle BBQ Blueberry Wings
These oven-baked wings are tossed in a deliciously sweet n’ spicy BBQ sauce made up of garlic, maple syrup, molasses, Dijon mustard, ketchup, Chipotle peppers, and blueberries (click for the full list). They look striking - that’s the allure of blueberries!
5. Spicy Peanut Butter and Jelly Wings
PB&J goes together so well, they decided to put it on wings! After coating the wings in flour and frying them, they are tossed in a blend of jelly, peanut butter, water, soy sauce, and Sriracha sauce. Sprinkled with peanuts and a hearty drizzle of Sriracha sauce is all it takes to complete these wings.
6. Ghost Pepper Wings
The wings are pat dry for maximum crispiness, and tossed in a dry rub of baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and ghost pepper powder. For those who aren’t familiar, ghost peppers are one of the world’s hottest peppers. They’re a slow building heat, but incredibly hot when they peak. After baking, they are tossed in a mixture of butter, hot sauce, and blue cheese dressing. These are not for the faint-hearted!
7. Spicy Chocolate Wings
Sometimes the strangest flavour combinations end up being the very best. These wings are cooked in a skillet, and then a combination of ingredients is created on the stove top - garlic, chilli powder, allspice, hot sauce, tomato paste, and dark chocolate. The wings are then enveloped and cooked in this thick sauce, sprinkled with cilantro afterward.
8. Baked Parmesan Garlic Wings
Before baking, the wings are seasoned with oregano, rosemary, cumin and salt. While the wings are in the oven, mix together butter, fresh basil, parmesan cheese, and garlic. The cooked wings are then coated with this dreamy sauce and served with a side of blue cheese dressing. This is a wing recipe that may initially raise some dubious eyebrows, but will surely have everyone licking their plates.
9. Baked Blackened Cajun Wings
Crispy, spicy, and bursting with flavour - isn’t that all you want in a chicken wing? This wing recipe is fairy easy. Toss the raw wings in a bowl of hot sauce and Cajun seasoning, and then let them bake until they’re golden brown. Coat them with a blend of butter, brown sugar, and tomato paste and bake them again until they are just the right amount of crispy and are visibly blackened.
10. Maple Glazed Wings
Let’s finish this list off with a recipe that’s sweet, fun, and a true Canadian symbol. The wings are coated with an irresistible marinade made from maple syrup, chilli sauce, onion, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and crushed red pepper flakes. After grilling, the wings are ready for another coat of the maple syrup marinade. Go ahead, have these delicious wings for breakfast! We won’t tell!
